Difficulty rising from a sit position. Wide base stance in the back. Mild abduction of both hind legs during cranial phase of walk. Decreased range of motion in both elbows and hips. Pain upon extension of hips bilaterally.
Therapy goals
Decrease pain; improve mobility and quality of life.
Course of Therapy
Pulsed Signal Therapy with our stationary unit. Therapy consisted of nine 30 minute PST sessions focused on her hips.
Progress
At the 8 week post-PST examination Sophie appeared to be moving much better. Although still slow upon rising, she is much improved, but still shows mild tenderness upon extension of both hips.
Owner Comment
“Sophie stayed with her ‘grandparents’ for the first time since her treatments and they couldn’t believe how much improved her movements were. She went up and downstairs easily, got up on the bed and couch easily, and overall was more playful and active. They said her previous visits were much more sedate; she would just lie around. They really saw how much she’s improved. She continues to be more active and attentive.”
